On Wednesday Holderness Lions will be hosting a fish n chip lunch for some 85 residents of The Holderness area.
the event is a sell out and I am sure all those who have bought tickets will enjoy their lunch , supplied by Leedhams Fisheries, Hedon, followed by fruit pie and ice cream. Our thanks to Hedon Co-Op for their help with this part of the lunch.
after lunch we will be entertained by Martin, whose singing will help some of us to stay awake.
hopefully there will be some photos later in the week.
on a very wet Sunday, 29th September 2019, three members of Holderness Lions acted as volunteers for The Memory Walk across The Humber Bridge.
another member was doing the walk with his wife and I understand in spite of the rather inclement weather the day was a great success.
Lions Lorraine, Ann and David all commented on the great atmosphere.
well done to all involved in whatever capacity.
we have been organising fish n chip socials for a few years now. We have , in the past, held them on a Friday evening but for some guests having fish n chips at 8.30pm was a bit too much.
So it was decided that we would have the same event but on a lunch time. This years event will take place on Wednesday 2nd October as always at The Hedon Royal British Legion.
tickets limited and selling fast.
On Saturday 7th September some of the hardy members of Holderness Lions embarked on a sponsored walk. They started in Sproatley and walked to Lelley and back to Sproatley.
the weather stayed fine and they all completed the walk.
of course they needed to refresh themselves at the end and enjoyed a refreshing drink at the Constable Arms.
Well done to you all especially Lion Ian.s dog!
The Club Members have decided to hold our Fish n Chip Social on an afternoon rather than an evening. Hopefully this will suit many of our regulars who found that having fish n chips followed by fruit pie at 8.30 in the evening was a bit too late.
so here are the details of our next Fish n Chip social – Wednesday 2nd October at Hedon Royal British Legion. Doors open at 11.30;am, lunch will be at approximately 12.30.
With a bit of arm twisting we have Martyn to entertain us after lunch.
tickets are £7.59 and are available now, just ask one of the Holderness Lions and you will be pointed in the right direction.
We do hope this new arrangement will be agreeable to many of our regulars and perhaps attractive some new comers.
we look forward to seeing you on the day.
Despite a gloomy weather forecast those Lions and guests who attended the annual sports day for the disabled held on Sandall Park, Doncaster had a great time.
we had the pleasure of having 4 of the students from the International Youth camp helping us and they were a great asset.
just a pity that some clubs and guests were put off by the thought of inclement weather.
Busy day, Saturday 3rd August, as well as being at Asda, Bilton some Holderness Lions will be manning a stall at The Car Boot Sale in Paull.
you might find just what you have been searching for , plenty to browse through. Sure you will find a bargain or two.
On Saturday 3rd August members of Holderness Lions will be at Asda store in Bilton from 11am giving customers the opportunity of entering our draw to try to win the Holiday Hamper. Cost just £1.00 a go.
the case is worth winning on its own without the contents.
look forward to seeing you there.
Had another great day at Preston Show on Saturday. Weather not as hot as it was during the week but not tipping it down either
Our Bottle Stall was popular and we sold out by about 3pm.
thanks to all who supported us.
What a great night it was, bit down on numbers, but a good time was had by all and Holderness Lions will be adding over £300 to our Charity Account.
many thanks to all who supported this event.
the horses have now been put out to pastures in order to get ready for their next outing. Hope all the jockeys are keeping fit ready for the future.
